Introduction

On December 2nd, 2023, Port Harcourt played host to one of the prestigious gatherings of next-generation female leaders in Africa: The SuperWoman Under 30 Awards. The theme for this year’s event was “Equilibrium,” and it was organised and convened by Serena Francis, with Ibelema Greene serving as the official compere.

The evening was a celebration of the remarkable achievements of young female leaders and their significant impact on society. It showcased the resilience, creativity, and determination of these women, highlighting their potential to shape the future of Africa. The awards also served as a platform to inspire and empower the next generation of female leaders, encouraging them to pursue their ambitions and make a tangible difference in their communities.

An Evening of Networking and Sharing

The event started with a meet and greet session, allowing participants to network and form new connections. This was followed by a series of sessions where the women shared their successes, failures, and concerns while also reflecting on the past year and forming bonds with fellow participants.

A throwback clip showcasing the journey of the SuperWoman Under 30 Awards was played, highlighting past events, nominees, and winners. This was followed by a presentation on the Super Women Ecosystem and the announcement of the upcoming Super Women Leadership program set to commence in 2024. The program will offer leadership training and mentorship to women from various fields.

Recognising Outstanding Achievements

During the event, several awards were presented to exceptional women in various categories, including writing and publishing, media and content creation, fashion and beauty, women in business, community development, women in tech, and leadership. The winners were acknowledged for their outstanding contributions to their respective fields.

The SuperWoman Under 3 Awards: Inspiring the Next Generation

The event also included a panel session featuring Serena Francis, Virtue Ali, and Kingsley Ime, which allowed the audience to gain insights from the speakers’ journeys and experiences. Additionally, Favour Ndukwe, winner of the 2021 leadership category award, delivered a talk encouraging support for women through various means.

The Closing remarks were given by the host Ibelema Greene, who expressed appreciation for the brands and individuals that have supported the SuperWoman organisation over time.
