Although, it is barely 5 days since Conversations with a Don at 43 on Saturday, July 1, 2023 but the atmosphere still smells fresh of the value it came with.
The event which was hosted by one of Port Harcourt’s most famous and influential Business Consultant, Thought Leader and Author, Emeka Nobis popularly known as the Don, was done in celebration of his 43rd birthday and launch of his books.
#ConversationsWithADonAt43 was held at Lemaco Hall and Gardens, Ada-George Road, Port Harcourt, capital of Rivers State in Nigeria.
The epoc making event pulled personalities from within and outside of Port Harcourt. Amongst those present was Worital CEO, Fola Folagbade from Lagos State, Nigeria.
In this exclusive interview, Mr. Folagbe shares his Port Harcourt experience with John Best UCHE, one of The Social Voice Africa’s publishers
Q: A very good day to you, sir. We would like to meet you.
A: Okay…my name is Fola Folagbade, The Celebrity Publisher. I’m the founder of Worital, a publishing firm here in Nigeria, Lagos precisely.
Q: Okay… You flew all the way from Lagos State, Centre of Excellence to Port Harcourt, the Garden City. Why?
A: I came in to celebrate one of our brand ambassadors who had a program on Saturday, his birthday. That brought me to Port Harcourt and also to meet up with some of our authors that we’ve been working with for years now and I’ve not been privileged to see one-on-one. That’s why I’m in PH and I’ve been in PH for a couple of days now.
Q: You’ve been here for at least 3 days now. How has been your experience of the city?
A: Well, so far so good, Port Harcourt has been good. Nice weather, great people I must say. And I’ve always been a big fan of Port Harcourt actually, because I noticed that a lot of people here are so keen about knowledge.
Port Harcourt is another place. When you mention Lagos, you also want to mention Port Harcourt. The way people are keen about learning, about getting better. So I love Port Harcourt. The people I’ve been meeting, the ambience, the food. And yeah, it’s been treating me well. Funny enough, I came into Port Harcourt with Malaria and I’m fine now.
That’s a miracle right? The night I came in, I was struggling with serious Malaria. Maybe the weather was just good for me.
Q: So, I want to ask, on a scale 0-10, how would you rate Port Harcourt compared to Lagos?
A: Well I would say Port Harcourt is a nice place. Like one of my recent posts, I said if I’m not in Lagos, I’ll be in Port Harcourt or Abuja. I think those are the three places I can live in Nigeria.
I won’t rate it in any way but I think Port Harcourt is a very good place. If at all we want to have a branch of Worital, it would be in Port Harcourt. It’s a very very good place.
Q: That’s great. Let’s talk about Port Harcourt Bole and Fish
A: Yeah, I just had Port Harcourt Bole and Fish. I’ve been hearing so much about it and I’m aware that there’s even a festival around it, Bole Festival, so it was really nice. I had a great time. The bole was peppery. It was very spicy. I enjoyed it. Even though a lot of you are shouting that it’s peppery, I think I enjoyed it. It’s just normal. You know, maybe because I’m a Yoruba guy, yeah. So, it’s just perfect.
Okay… Thank you very much. Shout out to one of your Worital Brand Ambassadors, The Don, Emeka Nobis who had his birthday and book launch on Saturday (July 1). Let’s talk a little about that.
Q: How were you able to publish three books at the same time?
A: Okay, yeah, Emeka is… how would I put it now? He is a goal getter and is someone that is strong. When his mind is set to achieve something, he will go all out to get it done, right? Yeah! So when he said he wanted to actually publish three books at the same time, I knew he would do it. Emeka has released, I think, 10 books in a year, right? So, three books, I just knew it would be possible. So, he did the whole work, the writing and we picked it up from there, right? The editing, all other things and we get it done because we are able and capable.
We are working with an author that is releasing 5 books at the same time, so, it’s just part of it. We have authors that are that different.
Q: Have you got any author that has published 3 books or more than that at once?
A: No, the highest we have right now is 3 and that record was created and is being held by Emeka Nobis – the Don until the 5 we are currently working on gets published.
We can say again that the Don, Emeka Nobis is the real idan of writing. #Lol
Port Harcourt to the world!
