An inaugural film and media conference was announced today with the goal of connecting independent storytellers across Nigeria with new funding and partnership opportunities.
As the entertainment industry’s attention turns to Port Harcourt this September for the 1st edition of Centrum Film Summit, organisers are promising the event will provide a platform for the nation’s burgeoning creators to network and collaborate with major industry players. Organisers expressed the hope that the summit will help empower underrepresented voices and strengthen the local creative economy.
The Social Voice Africa was at the Media Parley where the Film Summit’s Convener, Ibim Isaacs offered a sneak peek at the panels, screenings, and networking opportunities that attendees can expect September 12-14 at Novotel Hotel, Air force Junction. Featured speakers will include AMVCA-winning Actor and Director, Ramsey Nouah as well as other trailblazing producers, screenwriters, cinematographers, directors, actors and actresses and theater art experts from across Nigeria.
Mr. Isaacs spoke of tackling barriers often faced in the country:
We want to create an enabling environment where the corporate society can understand the size of filmmaking: Centrum Film Summit is here for the business of filmmaking.
For 3 days, the event will host conversations on crowdfunding, impact investing and breaking the barriers stopping the Nigerian film industry from reaching its full potential.
When asked how the film summit would help Port Harcourt the host city, Ibim Isaacs promised to bring in investors to help fund ready creators in the city and also create an enabling environment for the city’s industry growth and development.
He also said investors’ funds won’t be lost and assured all would get value on their investment, banking on his team’s capacity development and knowledge.
Ending the briefing, he assured all creatives that equal opportunity abounds for all and all they had to do [to] milk this initiative is to hone their skills.
Get the skills and you will get the milk.
he said.
The keynote presentation will be delivered by veteran actor, director and producer Ramsey Nouah, widely celebrated for his captivating performance and successful venture into filmmaking, expanding investment in original content sourced from regions beyond Nollywood. He will be speaking on the topic “Exploring the Conversion of Real Estate into Film Set, Its Significance and Profits”.
By bringing together creators, investors and decision makers, the Film Summit serves as an invaluable platform for putting Nollywood firmly on the global content map. While centered in Rivers State, organisers stress the summit’s role in fostering connections across all regions that are rich in talent ripe for investment. The Social Voice Africa will be on site to report on new partnerships and projects fueled by this unique gathering.
With a proven track record of success of its organisers, this year’s Centrum Film Summit promises to further elevate our nation’s reputation as a creative force well worth paying attention to. Don’t miss your chance to be a part of the buzz.
