The Interview…Sunrise shares her JPI Experience

Q: Congratulations on your global leadership journey with Jamie Pajoel International. Could you kindly introduce yourself? Thank you.

Sunrise: My name is Sunrise Oluebube Chukwukaike; I am an international event Comperé and media professional.

Q: Please, would you like to share your story of becoming one among the 27 selected delegates from Imo State to participate in the JPI Annual Leadership Conference in Rwanda?

Sunrise: I would say it is a case of opportunity meeting preparedness, not forgetting God’s grace.

I planned to travel outside of Nigeria this year and had captured it in my vision board so when the opportunity came, I indicated interest in his comment section, I got shortlisted and sat for the written and oral examination. The next thing was a mail saying I’ve been selected to attend the conference. The rest they say is history!

Q: How did the news of selection come to you? I mean how did you receive the news? Considering it was an all-expense paid trip to and from Rwanda. How did you feel?

Sunrise: I felt so elated. I was too excited to even shout. The mail came in by midnight and all I kept saying was thank you Lord! Thank you Lord!

It was even worse because we weren’t allowed to share the news yet so keeping it to myself felt like I was going to implode. I was too excited!

Q: What do you think made you qualify for the selection? Is there anything you’re doing differently that other young people could learn from in order to benefit from similar opportunities as this?

Sunrise: Apart from the Grace of God and the fact that I passed the exam, I think the fact that I constantly show up and have held my end in the past years against all odds gave me a boost. I’m alive and ever on the go and it is evident on social media so it was easy to believe me and what I am capable of.

Q: Now, let’s talk about the Rwanda trip proper. How was the JPI Annual Leadership Conference, Rwanda? Your experience!

Sunrise: It was a beautiful experience. Apart from being a delegate, I was the official Compere so it was both my first international trip and international hosting gig.

The conference was value packed. I met and connected with people who have conquered the grounds I am set to conquer and we shared insights.

Q: On a scale of 0-10, how would you rate the entire conference?

Sunrise: It’s a 10.5. It was everything I imagined and more.

Q: On what standard is the basis of your rating?

Sunrise: The value derived from the conference, the international experience, the food, the good people of Rwanda, the connections I made and many more.

Q: What does your participation in the JPI Annual Leadership Conference, Rwanda portend in your journey as a young leader?

Sunrise: My participation in JPI Annual Leadership Conference, Rwanda portends the beginning of a rewarding journey as a young leader. It also portends a rise in Value and worth and I can’t wait to harness all of it.

Q: What does this experience mean to you and your brand?

Sunrise: It’s simple! More connection, more followership, more visibility, more brand authentication and of course more money.

Q: What stood out for you as a delegate in the conference?

The coordination, the choice of resource persons and the hospitality of both JPI and the Rwandans.

Q: JPI Annual Leadership Conference, Rwanda is over. What’s the next line of action for you?

Sunrise: My next line of action is to set up structures that will empower other young people. Be on as many stages as I need to be preaching the good news of JPI as their global ambassador and of course ride on the visibility to grow my Brand and everything around me.

Q: Slightly away from the conference. Let’s talk about your personal experience of the African city called Kigali in Rwanda. Have you been there before? What’s your experience of Rwanda?

Sunrise: It was my first time in Rwanda and it is an experience I’d love to repeat.

I love how warm and hospitable Rwandans are, I love the neatness of the city, Kigali, I love the spirit of patriotism in the people and their level of orderliness as well.

Q: How would you rate Kigali as an African city on a scale of 0-10?

Sunrise: I will give it a 7.

Q: Is Kigali, Rwanda a city and country you would love to live in or at least, visit more often? Why?

Sunrise: Visit more? Yes. Live in? Not so sure and that’s because of the gap in language. They predominantly speak Kinyarwanda and for an English speaker like me, it was quite a struggle.

Q: What does your experience of the Kigali city have to add to your community back here in Nigeria having returned in terms of development?

Sunrise: Quite a lot but let’s start with obeying traffic laws and taking dirts off the streets.

Q: How would you describe the gesture of Jamie Pajoel International as the organiser of this conference?

Sunrise: Hmmmmmmmm. I kept asking my friend why she thinks Mr Jamie Pajoel chose to do this because the thing no too clear. It must have cost him an arm and a leg to carry out this project. Dr. Jamie has a large mind and heart too. I pray God continues to bless him and open doors for him in the high places of the Earth.

Q: Is there anything else you would like to talk about? Closing thoughts.

Sunrise: Yes ooo! A big thank you to everyone who supported me on this trip.

My parents, pastors, mentors, siblings, leaders, bosses and my dear friends. God bless you all.

To you young Leader, keep showing up. When the time is right, God will do it!

JOHN BEST: It’s great having you share your experience with us and the entire world. I must say this is quite inspiring. Let’s hope that other young people draw inspiration from your story. Thank you for granting us an audience.
