The people were educated on the symptoms and effects of malaria especially to children and these symptoms include; cold with shivering, fever, headache, vomiting, sweat, followed by a return to a normal temperature with tiredness and seizure.
To prevent the experience the of the symptoms and effects, Deborah stated certain measures such as use of long lasting insects treated mosquito nets, cleaning of gutters regularly, making sure doors and windows are properly closed, use of mosquito repellents, proper disposal of any unnecessary containers or debris around homes.
To support the people, mosquito nets and malaria test kits were distributed to 50 pregnant women and nursing mothers.
The groups – Gift a Child Initiative and Hacey Health Initiative gave recommendations for treatment of malaria. However, the beneficiaries were advised to consult medical professionals for a proper malaria test before commencing treatment.
